Who we are

YICFF (Youth Independent Cinema Film Festival) is a national film festival for high school filmmakers in Thailand. This page explains how we handle your personal data under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA, B.E. 2562).

What we collect

When you submit a film or create an account, we collect:

• About you — your full name, email address, school, and your role in the film.
• About your film — title, synopsis, director's statement, credits, screening link, poster and stills.
• Proof of eligibility — a link to your school enrollment letter.
• Technical info — basic account metadata (sign-in method, account creation date) managed by Firebase Authentication.

When you sign up for notifications, we collect just your name and email — nothing else.

Why we collect it

• To evaluate your submission and select films for the festival.
• To contact you about the status of your submission.
• To promote selected films (posters, trailers, stills used online and at the event).
• To prevent duplicate or fraudulent submissions.
• To tell you when submissions open for the next edition (only if you opted in).

How long we keep it

We keep submission data for 24 months after each festival ends. After that, it's permanently deleted.

If your film is selected for the Official Selection, we'll ask separately for your ongoing permission to keep your materials in our archive and showreel. You can withdraw that permission any time by emailing us.

Who sees it

Only the YICFF organising team and festival judges see your submission. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers or marketers. We use Google Firebase (hosting, authentication, database) to run this website — your data is stored on Google's servers, which comply with international data protection standards.

Your rights

Under PDPA, you can:

• See what data we have about you.
• Correct anything that's wrong.
• Delete your data (we'll erase everything we can; legally-required records may be kept briefly).
• Withdraw consent at any time — this won't affect anything we did with your data before you withdrew.
• Complain to Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee if you think we've handled your data wrongly.

If you're under 18

YICFF is built for student filmmakers, so many of our submitters are minors. If you're under 18, please make sure your parent or guardian knows you're submitting and is OK with your film being shown publicly. If we select your film, we may ask for a signed parental acknowledgment before the festival.

Cookies and local storage

We store a small preference in your browser (your chosen language) so the site remembers it on return visits. That's it — no tracking cookies, no analytics profiling, no advertising pixels.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll email everyone who has submitted or signed up for notifications.
